A place to celebrate new ideas and practice old traditions, a place that connects you to the world and feels like home.
IU students take academics seriously, but they also like to spend time with friends, meet new people, and have fun. IU offers lots of opportunities for all three, from cheering on IU student-athletes to attending the seemingly endless artistic and cultural events on campus.
A member of the Big Ten conference, IU has 24 varsity sports—including basketball, football, and soccer—that give crimson-clad Hoosier fans many reasons to cheer. And you can attend most IU athletic events for free.
Want to test your own sports skills or get a good workout? Our recreational sports programs are considered among the best in the country.
Held each April, IU’s famous Little 500 bicycle races are the centerpiece of what’s known as the “World’s Greatest College Weekend,” an opportunity to celebrate springtime and raise money for student scholarships.
Each fall, students and alumni flock to this campuswide jubilee, which includes a football game, parade, Yell Like Hell student spirit competition, and Nearly Naked Mile charity run.
Student life revolves around the Indiana Memorial Union, a 500,000-square-foot facility in the heart of campus that houses everything from restaurants to a concert hall to a bowling alley.
