Before you can live on our beautiful campus, study in one (or more) of our hundreds of degree programs, and experience our exciting campus culture—from Big Ten sports to world-class arts—you need to apply to IU.
Admission to IU is selective. Below are a few other important facts about our admission process:
- We review each application for its individual merits and qualities. We look at everything from your high school curriculum to your grades and SAT/ACT test scores.
- We encourage you to apply early. The application for students who are applying for fall 2015 will be available on August 1.
- We'll tell you when you'll receive a decision. Apply by one of our two priority dates and we'll tell you the date by which you will hear from us. If you miss our priority dates, we’ll review your application on a space-available basis.

Please note that the deadline for completing the application for the Jacobs School of Music is November 1. Please contact the Jacobs School of Music Admissions Office at (812) 855-7998 for more information. Jacobs School of Music freshman applicants will not be considered for IU merit scholarships administered by the Office of Scholarships. The Jacobs School of Music will administer these scholarships, taking into consideration the combination of academic achievement and talent as it is demonstrated in the audition.
